An elderly South Carolina woman is facing charges for allegedly fatally shooting her husband in his room at an assisted living facility, authorities said.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at around 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, to a report of shots fired at Preston Health Center, an assisted living facility within the Cypress of Hilton Head retirement community.
Deputies arrived at a patient room to find an 81-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. With him was his spouse, 82-year-old Harriett Kay Recker of Sun City. The sheriff’s office said that “despite lifesaving efforts,” the victim died of his injuries…
