Mayor’s Memo: Building a community we can be proud to call home

Hardeeville has many builders building many houses, and many investors building warehouses, and many new store fronts will soon follow. But what council and our excellent staff are building is a community – a community where people can live safely in nice homes, live close to their jobs, and have fun with their families. We are building a community that we are proud to call home.

Essential to that goal is providing parks and recreation activities for everyone who lives in our city and welcoming all visitors. That’s where our Parks and Rec team, led by director Jennifer Combs, excels. October is an excellent month to highlight these very special people.

On Oct. 4, the city celebrated the opening of the next phase of JuJu Hutson park. Upon entering through the archway bearing JuJu’s name, there is a sense of something special – family gatherings, children playing on creative equipment and slides, canopy shades, cushioned ground, a new covered pavilion with picnic benches and surrounded by grassy areas and new restrooms…
