‘Our souls are screaming’: Family of St. Helena Island shooting victim calls for justice

ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) – The family of one of the victims of a St. Helena Island shooting earlier this month is mourning their loss and begging the community to help investigators solve the crime.

Amos Ramon Gary, 54, was working as a security guard at Willie’s Bar and Grill when he was shot and killed. Gary, also known as Junior, was one of 11 siblings.

“We feel like we’re in the daze, like we just cannot believe it because how and why him?” said Avis Renee Toomer, Gary’s sister. “You know, you’re at work. How could something like this happen while you’re at work?”

Toomer said she received a call from her father at 1:55 a.m. with news that her brother was dead…
