CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) – The Chatham County Police Department has identified and arrested a man in connection with a burglary and attempted rape that occurred at an apartment complex Sunday, according to a press release WTOC just received.
The release says Chatham County Police Department detectives arrested 43-year-old Rashawn Jerrel Newton, Sr. and charged him first-degree burglary, aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit rape, and Peeping Tom.
“A victim unknown to the suspect woke up in her apartment in the 5100 block of Garrard Avenue Sunday and found an unclothed man in her bedroom, who fled when the victim began screaming,” the release says…
