Director of ‘Wicked’, actress Zoey Deutch and more walk the red carpet for night 2 of SCAD Savannah Film Festival

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Inspirational film stars came out for the second day of the SCAD Savannah Festival. SCAD students lined the walls to get a glimpse of those they look up to in the industry.

SCAD students inspired by industry professionals

With many famous actors walking the red carpet, one SCAD acting major said she was most excited to see someone who plays a different role in the industry.

“John M. Chu, even though he’s not an actor, I love what he does with making the sets feel real and not using green screen. I love that he likes to be practical and put his actors in it, because to me that’s so magical, being able to step into the world you’re in. So he’s kind of been a really big inspiration right now, just kind of continuing my passion and enjoying what I’m doing,” said SCAD student, Ebie Lamb.

Director teases upcoming ‘Wicked’ sequel

The director of Academy Award-winning “Wicked”, Jon M. Chu, showed out in Sunday night’s red carpet. With many hopeful onlookers, he gave us some insight on his upcoming film, “Wicked: For Good.”

“Get ready. If you love movie one, if you fell in love with those girls, this movie goes deeper. It’s more complicated. It has lots of fun moments. The numbers are huge. These girls are extraordinary. I can’t wait for people to witness it,” said Chu.

‘Juror #2’ actress praises festival organization

Actress Zoey Deutch was also in attendance for her Breakthrough Performance Award. She said this is her second time coming to the SCAD Savannah Film Festival and she loves what the school does for their students…
