StormTeam 3: Bitter cold leads to new record low temperature

SAVANNAH, Ga (WSAV) – StormTeam 3 Meteorologist Alysa Carsley here – let’s have a fabulous Tuesday!

Wow…okay this morning was bitterly cold! In fact, it was so cold in Savannah that we broke the record for coldest morning temperature for Veterans Day. Savannah hit 28°. The old record was 31° set back in 1968. We will also get very close to our record for coldest high temperature, which is 49°. Our forecasted high is 52°. Regardless of the record, our afternoon will be cold. We stay 15-20° below average with a breeze adding an extra chill. Keep the layers on for our Tuesday.

We aren’t done with the arctic blast just yet! We have another cold night in store for us as temperatures dive quickly after sunset into the lower 30s. Most of the area will wake up on Wednesday to morning lows around freezing. Our record low tomorrow is 30°. The good news is that Wednesday’s high temperatures won’t be as cold. Yes, still chilly in the mid 60s, but a noticeable change from the struggling 50s. This begins our warming trend into the weekend.

By the end of the work week, our morning lows are back around average in the low to mid 40s and our high temperatures are in the low to mid 70s. We are back to chilly mornings and comfortable afternoons! And we have endless sunshine through the week as well…
