A new museum opening in Bluffton in 2025 is the “Foodseum,” an interactive museum dedicated to Southern food heritage and Lowcountry cuisine. It held its grand opening on March 7, 2025, at the Culinary Institute of the South in Bluffton. The Foodseum offers a unique experience where visitors can explore and taste exhibits representing the rich culinary traditions of the South, particularly focusing on the local Lowcountry food culture. Admission is free as space allows, and it aims to educate residents and tourists alike about the area’s food heritage through interactive displays and events.
Additionally, Bluffton continues to celebrate its historic culture with established sites like the Heyward House Museum, built around 1841, which is one of the few antebellum homes remaining in the town. The Heyward House serves both as a museum and the official town Welcome Center, offering tours, historical insights, and access to other local cultural attractions.
For a focus on cultural heritage beyond culinary history, the Bluffton Gullah Heritage Center, opening in summer 2025, will highlight the rich Gullah culture and history, featuring the largest bottle trees in U.S. history…
