Chatham County Sheriff’s Office opens 24-hour access for clergy at Detention Center

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has launched a new program giving clergy 24-hour access to the county detention center.

Sheriff Richard Coleman said the decision is aimed at supporting inmates’ mental health and reducing tension inside the jail.

The initiative allows local faith leaders to visit people who are incarcerated at any time. Coleman said it’s something clergy members have been requesting for years…
