‘Sharing is caring’: 250 families receive free Thanksgiving groceries

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Volunteers with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) Student and Family Services, campus police and Loop It Up Savannah provided Thanksgiving groceries to 250 families Friday.

According to Quentina Miller-Fields with SCCPSS Family and Student Services, they were able to provide 150 more bags of food and frozen turkeys than they planned because of the generosity from their donors.

“We believe that sharing is caring,” Miller-Fields said. “We know there are a lot of people hurting. There are a lot of people in need. We just wanted to do something small to give back to our community. We are a part of the community. We live with these people. We go to church with these people. They’re in our schools. We know that if you don’t have food, it’s going to be hard to come to school and concentrate. This is just our small way of giving to those who are in need.”…
