A couple of golfers on the ninth hole at Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina had an above par experience when they helped to save a stranded manatee earlier this week.
On its Facebook page, the club said the golfers spotted the marine mammal stuck in the marsh during low tide on the ninth hole at Crescent Pointe and immediately contacted several agencies in search of help. The South Carolina Department of Resources was notified and responded to the scene.
The club said its General Manager, Ron Schiavone, worked closely with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office to keep the surrounding area clear and redirect golfers away from the animal. The sheriff’s office and SCDNR officials, the club said, stayed in direct communication with one another…
