Hilton Head man claims government using ‘maximum public outrage’ to prosecute him

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WSAV) – A Hilton Head Island man accused of helping set off a confrontation between an off-duty Beaufort County Sheriff’s Deputy and three teenagers is now pushing for a speedy trial.

Brian Stahlheber said the case against him is the “most dangerous prosecution in South Carolina history” and claims he’s a victim of what he calls “prosecution by TikTok.”

According to Beaufort County Detention Center records, Stahlheber, a neighbor at the Squiregate Community who was under the influence of alcohol when he engaged the group of juveniles on a four-wheeler, questioned and harassed the teens.

Investigators said the 47-year-old was directly involved and said his claims helped set off the chaotic scene…
