SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – It’s that time of year when we start tracking more freezing nights, and one of those nights arrives tonight into tomorrow morning. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s and lower 30s, and wind chills may fall into the lower 20s. With temperatures this cold, it’s important to remember the “Four Ps” of cold weather safety: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants.
PeopleIf you don’t need to be outside tonight, it’s best to stay indoors where it’s warm. If you must go out, make sure you have access to a warm shelter and check on family members and neighbors, especially the elderly. Dress in layers of warm, dry clothing, including a hat, scarf, and gloves. Also be aware of the signs of hypothermia and frostbite, as temperatures will be dangerously cold.
PetsBring pets indoors tonight. If you care for outdoor animals or stray cats, consider providing a warm shelter for them. If you’re walking your dog tomorrow morning, protect their paws with booties or paw balm, and use sweaters or coats for short-haired breeds…
