After playing three years at Savannah State, defensive end Xavier Esquillen will wrap up his collegiate playing career in Atlanta, having transferred to Georgia State.
During his time at SSU, the Charlotte, North Carolina native made the All-SIAC team twice while playing in 29 games and making 85 tackles (54 solo), 30 tackles for loss, 22 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, 7 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.
Esquillen led the SIAC in sacks in 2024 with 11.5 and in 2025 he wrote his name into the SSU record books with a single game school record of 5 sacks in the Tigers Homecoming win against Morehouse…
