JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) received information that the county treasurer made comments suggesting potential gun violence toward the county administration staff.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has been called to begin an independent investigation.

This investigation stems from alleged money issues within the government. A specially called meeting Friday morning included just two items on the agenda: “receipt of legal advice on matters covered by the attorney-client privilege” and “investigations regarding allegations of criminal misconduct privilege.”

While the JCSO says SLED found limited credibility to the gun violence threats, they advised everyone in the Jasper County government building to leave “out of an abundance of caution.” JSCO conducted a sweep of the building searching for weapons.
