Storm Team 3: Arctic front moves in Sunday, dangerous cold ahead

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Expect a mild one Sunday with passing showers, all before extremely cold weather moves in.

Saturday was warm and mainly sunny, with most of the area enjoying highs in the lower 70s. Expect mild temperatures for the start of Sunday, with lows in the 50s for most. Clouds will increase by the start of the day ahead of the cold front. There will be a 20% chance of passing showers during the morning.

Temperatures will warm into the 60s, but it will quickly turn breezy once the front is through the area. Drier air works in, and once the sun goes down, temperatures will plummet to dangerous levels for our area.

A cold weather advisory will be in effect for our area from 10 p.m. Sunday through 10 a.m. Monday, except for Hampton and Screven Counties, which will be under an extreme cold watch for that time period. Morning low temperatures in the lower 20s will feel like about 5-15°F due to northerly winds.

Remember to protect the Four P’s. Cover up or bring in sensitive plants, protect exposed outdoor pipes, especially if you rely on well water and bring in pets or provide warm shelter, limiting exposure to moisture and wind. Bundle up if you’re heading outdoors on Monday, including hats and gloves for children. Check on your neighbors and be sure your home is adequately heated…
