HELENA, Ga. (WTOC) – The Georgia Department of Corrections confirmed the death of inmate Preston Phelps while in custody at Telfair State Prison.
Phelps died on Dec. 13 following an altercation with multiple offenders, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
His body was turned over to the county coroner and will be transported to the GBI crime lab to determine the official cause of death. Corrections officials say his death is being investigated as a homicide.
