Former BCSO deputy makes first appearance in court

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) – The first court appearance of former Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy and 19-year veteran William Squires is currently underway. Squires was filmed on camera back in October, detaining three teenagers at gunpoint while not on duty and intoxicated.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) says it has video surveillance of Squires at Hudson’s Seafood drinking alcohol. According to the defense, Squires had five beers at Hudson’s.

Squires was also seen drinking during the day. It was reported he had three beers over the course of a three to five-hour period…
