New details: CEO of subcontractor killed at Hyundai megasite as forklift driver fled scene, OSHA report shows

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) – Nine months after a worker was killed at the Hyundai megasite after being run over by a forklift, WTOC Investigates has obtained new details about the circumstances that led to 45-year-old Sunbok You’s death.

Files from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s recently closed investigation show You was the CEO of SBY America, a Hyundai subcontractor, which was ultimately fined just under $10,000 for his death.

Safety violations cited in fatal incident

According to OSHA’s findings, prior to the March incident, You was on the HL-GA Battery Company construction site speaking to some of his workers when he decided to walk across the road. That’s when he was struck by the forklift and killed.

The report says You was wearing an eye patch on his right eye as well as a black vest, though under HL-GA Battery Company rules, he should have been wearing a high-visibility green vest…
