Georgia pediatrician urges parents to stay vigilant, measles cases rising nearby

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – With measles cases rising just across the state line in South Carolina, doctors say now is the time for parents to pay attention.

WSAV spoke with a local pediatrician about why measles spreads so quickly and how vaccination can help protect kids, especially during the busy holiday travel season.

“If you’re in a room, for instance, with a hundred people, let’s think about ten of those people,” said Dr. Ashley Cheek, a Memorial Health pediatrician. “So we go into a smaller room, there’s ten people in that room. So, nine out of ten people who do not have immunity against measles will get measles.”…
