Storm Team 3: Warmth continues before a cold blast

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – We enjoyed a beautiful and unseasonably warm day yesterday, tying the record high of 80° that was last set in 2015. While today will still be warm, it won’t be quite as mild as clouds begin to increase. After a foggy start this morning, the sky will turn partly to mostly cloudy, keeping temperatures a few degrees cooler. Even so, highs will still reach the mid 70s, running about 15 degrees above average. Cloud cover will also help temperatures stay mild tonight, with lows only dropping into the upper 50s.

Our final, notably warm day arrives tomorrow, with highs in the low 70s, about 10 degrees above average. However, it will be mostly cloudy, and a strong cold front will move through, bringing a few showers and breezy conditions. Winds will be out of the southwest during the morning before shifting to the northwest once the front passes.

Behind the front, much colder air settles in. Temperatures will drop to around freezing Monday night into Tuesday morning, with Tuesday afternoon highs only in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Another below freezing night follows Tuesday night into Wednesday, with lows dipping into the upper 20s. Highs on New Year’s Eve will struggle to reach the upper 40s to low 50s…
