‘You don’t have to be strong’: South Georgia mother transforms pain into purpose after tragically losing her 16-year-old son

ATKINSON COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A South Georgia mother is walking into the New Year with a focus on helping families navigate grief.

Back in October 2024, 16-year-old Darion Davis was originally hospitalized for an suspected asthma attack and later died in ICU in Savannah.

Two adult and three teenagers were charged in relation to Davis’ death, when a video surfaced of those charged allegedly beating Davis days before he went to the hospital.
