SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Happy New Year! It’s the first day of 2026, and we’re starting it off with sunny and seasonable weather across the region. Highs today will reach the low 60s, right where we should be for this time of year, with plenty of sunshine overhead. Tonight stays chilly, with lows dropping into the lower 40s, but we finally stay above freezing tonight.
The warming trend continues tomorrow with highs climbing into the mid 60s, and even warmer air moves in for Saturday as highs reach the upper 60s. Clouds will increase Friday into Saturday, along with a growing chance for rain. Scattered showers are likely on Saturday, with some rain possibly heavy at times. Rainfall totals should range from about a half inch to one inch. Flooding is not expected, and this rain will actually be beneficial, as much of the region remains under moderate to severe drought conditions.
A few light showers may linger into early Sunday morning, but conditions will gradually dry out through the day. Temperatures will cool slightly, with highs returning to more seasonable levels in the low 60s under a mix of sun and clouds…
