SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – As we head into the first weekend of the new year, we’re tracking rain and storms for Saturday. Ahead of the storms, temperatures will climb into the upper 60s to near 70°, providing some energy for storms to develop. However, widespread cloud cover will limit how strong most of these storms can become.
We’ll start the day with scattered showers, then during the afternoon and evening a line of showers and storms will move through as a cold front sweeps across the area. The primary concerns will be gusty winds and periods of heavy rain. Flooding is not expected since we remain well below average on rainfall, but the severe weather risk is not zero, including a very low tornado and hail threat.
TIMEFRAME: Scattered showers for the morning with the main line of storms approaching from 2-9 pm…
