Mayor’s Office: Violent crime in Savannah has stabilized from high peak in 2023

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Violent crime in Savannah has “stabilized” since an abnormally high peak in 2023, according to the Mayor’s Office.

Crime statistics released by the Savannah Police Department (SPD) show there was a 2% increase in violent crime year-over-year, but the mayor’s office said this does not erase a large prior drop. Rather, crime is still far below an abnormally high spike back in 2023, according to the mayor’s office.

“2025 shows stabilization, not a return to peak levels, but crime is still down significantly from 2023,” a city spokesperson told WSAV News 3.
