SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A chilly weekend is expected, with on and off rain for most of the area and the possibility of some freezing rain in our northern counties.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from Saturday evening through early Sunday afternoon for Screven and Hampton County due to the potential for some freezing rain Sunday morning.
A brief switchover to freezing rain could take place if temperatures dip below the freezing mark, leading to a light glaze of ice on some surfaces.
Significant ice accumulation is expected along and North of I-20. Power outages and major tree damage are expected in those areas. Travel disruptions will be experienced on Sunday and into early next week. Many flights will be delayed or canceled at the major hubs of Atlanta and Charlotte.
