SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A group of local mothers gathered in support Saturday afternoon at West Broad Bandshell, coordinated by the KWAME Foundation. The foundation gathered mothers together to provide love, support, and sisterhood to those who have lost a son.
April McCoi founded the foundation after the lost of her teenage son to a car accident in 2022. KWAME stood for ‘Keep Walking Alongside Me Everyday’.
“I started doing driving scholarships and driving lessons for high school students, and then I started to meet moms who just felt like once the casket closed and the dirt settled, they had nothing to do”, McCoi said. “It makes my heart smile just to see the moms come together even if it’s just one day out of the month or or one day out of the year that we all get together in fellowship and just know that we’re not alone.”…
