CCPD reminding residents of E-Bike laws and rules when riding

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – The Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) is reminding electric bicycle (E-bike) riders of the laws and rules of the road designed to keep them safe.

According to CCPD, Georgia law states that all bicyclists must follow all traffic laws and obey traffic signs and signals. The law also states that riders must stay to the far right of the road, unless turning left, if it is unsafe to do so, or in very specific circumstances outlined by law.

Helmets are an important part of E-bike safety and are legally required for all riders under the age of 16 and for all riders of E-bikes capable of going more than 28 mph…
