Air National Guard training exercise brings jets to Savannah skies

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The skies in Savannah have been extra noisy and filled with jets for the past two weeks and it’s all due to an Air National Guard training exercise. It used to be known as Sentry Savannah, but officials changed the name of the exercise to Sentry South this year.

Airmen from across the region have traveled to Savannah to train in offensive and defensive counter-air missions.

They’re using 4th and 5th generation aircrafts, like F-18 Hornets and F-22 Raptors, to enhance combat readiness and joint integration…
