The Burton Fire District and Beaufort County EMS and Sheriff’s Office responded to two MVAs on December 4, 2025, one of which resulted in critical injuries and traffic delays. Just before 2000 hours, emergency crews responded to a vehicle collision at Broad River Boulevard and Parris Island Gateway. Crews arrived to find that a van had left the roadway and was in a ditch. Only one vehicle was involved and no injuries resulted. Just 30 minutes later, just before 2030, emergency crews responded to a second vehicle collision on Trask Parkway by Garrett Smalls Road. Crews arrived to a single-vehicle collision with an occupant trapped. Firefighters rescued the occupant who was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with critical injuries.
