HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (WSAV) — Hardeeville Police Department officials warned residents of an increase in sextortion cases in the area Wednesday.
Sextortion is a form of online blackmail where a person pressures someone to send explicit images of themselves and threatens to share the images unless they are paid.
Officials said many of these incidents involve juveniles and are being initiated through social media apps, like TikTok. Those involved may pose as juveniles or young people as well…
