SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Local volunteers mobilized throughout Chatham County to participate in a “Point in Time” homeless count, an annual count where groups survey how many sheltered and unsheltered people are actively experiencing homelessness.
Larry Baldwin, chief connection officer with Ground to Growth, said, “It’s important to get as accurate a count as possible, because it’s going to have a direct impact on funding levels from federal programs and such.”
According to the Homeless Authority, during last year’s survey, they counted 456 sheltered and 172 unsheltered people. WSAV reached out to the Homeless Authority for this year’s numbers, but has not heard back…
