Savannah woman’s ‘off’ feeling was a life-threatening aortic dissection

For Julie Warner of Savannah, Wednesday Aug. 20, 2025, started out like a typical day. Until it wasn’t.

That morning, with two of her four children already at school and the two others about to walk out the door, the busy 46-year-old wife and mom was looking forward to taking a walk around 9:30 a.m. with her friend, Melissa Pearce. A few months before, Warner began concentrating on her health by eating right, walking 10,000 steps a day and drinking plenty of water. She had been on blood pressure medicine, but her prescription had lapsed, she said.

Warner felt good about her new self-care plan until she didn’t. Unbeknownst to her on that August day that seemed so routine, Warner would be undergoing life-saving surgery in a matter of hours…
