Controlled burn at Savannah National Wildlife Refuge

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Residents in Savannah and the Hardeeville area may see heavy smoke across the Savannah River on Monday afternoon.

The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) confirmed to WSAV that they are executing a planned prescribed burn at Impoundment 12/13. It is expected to burn 450 acres.

Laurel Hill Wildlife Drive and the Savannah NWR will be closed until the prescribed burn is complete.
