Effingham community bands together to buy young resident his first car

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — A congratulatory social media post turned into a life-long memory for a resident of the Effingham Trutlen House.

19-year-old Anselm Green thought he was going to spend his Saturday morning helping some friends move. However, what was waiting for him was a much bigger surprise, and it all started when he first got his driver’s license.

“We have a driver! Focused on independence, growth and creating a successful future. Every step matters, and we are proud of the progress,” posted Treutlen House on social media back in January when Green got his driver’s license.

Treutlen House is a community-based group home for boys who have been estranged from their families due to neglect, abuse or abandonment…
