CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – A resident brought “basically, a cannonball” to the Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) headquarters Thursday, prompting a closure of the building, a spokesperson reported.
The woman was cleaning out some items in her home and decided that she no longer wanted the item, according to officials. She reportedly determined the best course of action was to deliver it to the CCPD headquarters around 11:30 a.m., which promptly became a “major” disruption, the CCPD spokesperson said.
CCPD officials closed the building to the public while Savannah Police and Savannah Fire personnel responded. Since the “ordinance” appeared to be military grade, according to officials, the Fort Stewart bomb squad was called in to dispose of it…
