TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) — The Mayor of Tybee Island spoke with WSAV Wednesday about how council plans to preserve historic properties after voting against an historic district ordinance.
“The perception of it was, city council doesn’t care about the history of Tybee and that was the furthest thing from the truth,” Mayor Brian West said.
During the March 12 city meeting, council voted 4-2 against a designation of a local historic district. The plan has been in the works for the past two years by the Tybee Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)…
