BEAUFORT, S.C (WSAV) — A man charged in the deadly shooting of a young man in Beaufort County is now facing a second murder charge in Columbia.
The Columbia Police Department arrested 23-year-old Xavier Barnes on Thursday and charged him with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Maurice Green in Richland County back in July 2025 and disposing of his body in Orangeburg County.
Authorities said the motive for this fatal shooting is still under investigation. However, this is not the first time Barnes has been behind bars on murder charges…
