Bryan County reflects on recovery years after deadly 2022 tornado

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – Four years after a deadly tornado tore through Bryan County, leaders said the storm left a lasting impact, not only on buildings and neighborhoods, but on how the county prepares for future disasters.

The tornado struck April 5, 2022, carving a 13-mile path through Pembroke and Ellabell, claiming one life, injuring several others and causing millions of dollars in damage. Some of the hardest-hit areas included the Park Place and Homestead neighborhoods, along with major damage to the Bryan County Courthouse Complex and Hendrix Park.
