Savannah woman sentenced to 7 years for setting fire to home with people inside

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A Savannah woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison after admitting to setting fire to a home with four people inside.

Tamekia Mumford, 50, was sentenced to 84 months in prison after pleading guilty to arson resulting in personal injury, according to Meg Heap, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.

“Arson is a senseless and often deadly crime,” Heap said. “It’s a tribute to the quick response of the Savannah Fire Department that all of the occupants of this residence were rescued with only minor injuries.”…
