SRP bolsters grid with 250-megawatt battery storage system in Mesa

A 250-megawatt battery storage system by the Salt River Project (SRP) and Aypa Power in Mesa started serving customers on Tuesday.

The Pediment Battery Storage System is located in the Elliot Road Technology Corridor, which is near Elliot and Ellsworth roads, and has a capacity to power up to 56,250 homes for four hours.

Pediment goes online as SRP expects to more than double its system capacity over the next decade to meet growing electricity demand driven by rising populations and expanding commercial development.
