A car crashed into a transformer pole and then caught fire. Now thousands of people are without power, authorities say.

CHANDLER, Ariz. — A vehicle crashed into a transformer pole, causing a massive power outage, authorities said.

Chandler police and fire responded to a crash near Knox and McQueen roads around 10 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicle crashed into a transformer pole, and then both the car and the pole caught on fire.

According to SRP, approximately 7,000 customers were without power directly following the crash. As of 10:30 p.m., just about 1,300 customers are without power, SRP told 12News…
