Gilbert Town Council Expands Utility Discount Program, Offering Greater Relief to Residents

Residents of Gilbert can breathe a little easier regarding their utility bills thanks to an expanded discount program from the town council. With infrastructure improvements on the horizon, the town has hiked utility rates set to kick in this April. In a move to take the sting off of higher bills, the Gilbert Town Council has approved a beefed-up version of the AZCEND Gilbert Utility Discount Program. Deeper discounts and widened eligibility are part of the package.

The new program features an increased monthly utility discount, up from a mere $10 to a more substantial $30. The income eligibility is getting a stretch as well. The income qualification threshold previously sat at 80% Area Median Income (AMI) but will now rise to accept residents earning up to 125% AMI, according to the official town announcement. This adjustment opens the gates for a larger section of the community to qualify for some much-needed relief.
