The transport of the Philippine Mars, the last operational flying boat from World War II, from Lake Pleasant to its final home at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, has been rescheduled for May 11.
Once plans were made to preserve the aircraft, The Philippine Mars was made airworthy for one final flight from Vancouver Island, Canada to Arizona. Before this, the plane had not flown in 17 years.
With a wingspan of 200 feet, this plane is a true flying boat that can only land on water, which is why it landed at Lake Pleasant, on February 10, and not at an airport.
