Officer in Glendale park shooting won’t face charges

GLENDALE, Ariz. — No criminal charges are expected for the officer who fatally shot a man mistaken for a suspect Glendale police were searching for at Horizon Park.

On Jan. 8, Glendale police officers were searching for a 23-year-old man who had allegedly fled from a domestic violence incident. Police located a truck matching the suspect’s at a local park and attempted to make contact with anyone inside.

According to police, officers noticed an individual sitting at a nearby gazebo who the officers believed to be the 23-year-old suspect. The man in the gazebo allegedly did not comply with verbal commands from officers and “made a movement towards his waistband.”…
