Man walking on sidewalk struck by hit-and-run driver in central Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police are searching for a driver who struck and seriously injured a man walking along a sidewalk in central Phoenix early Friday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., police and fire crews responded to the area of 24th and Grand avenues and found a man lying in the roadway. He was rushed to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Phoenix police believe a vehicle was northbound on Grand Avenue when the driver lost control, left the roadway and hit the man who was walking on the sidewalk. The driver fled the area before first responders arrived.
