Lithium-ion batteries power everything from consumer electronics to medical devices to automobiles – and their use is only growing.
Some 3 billion batteries are sold annually in the country, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
They also pose an increasing danger. Seneca Insurance says, “In the past three years, lithium-ion battery fires have replaced electrical fires as the leading cause of fatal fires in New York City, surpassing blazes caused by cooking and smoking.”…
