Tempe Man, 2 others get prison terms in $10M fraud scheme

Three East Valley men were sentenced to prison terms and order to pay restitution – two in the seven figures – for their roles in a telemarketing scam that authorities said bilked over $10 million from over 1,000 victims.

The heftiest restitution order was file against Richard Kuhlmann Jr., 58, of Tempe, who was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Susan M. Brnovich, to 42 months in prison and ordered to pay over $2.1 million.

Kuhlmann previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States, mail fraud, and transactional money laundering…
