Scottsdale Man Allegedly Used Stolen Funds for Lavish Hunting Trips, Jewelry, and Gambling
An Arizona man is facing federal charges for allegedly stealing more than $2.4 million from an employee retirement and benefits plan, according to an indictment unsealed in the District of Maryland. The indictment charges James Vincent Campbell, 47, of Scottsdale, with theft from an Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) plan and multiple counts of money laundering.
Campbell is the CEO and founder of Axim Fringe Solutions Group, LLC, a company that manages employee benefits for federal contractors. The company was formerly headquartered in Maryland.
According to court documents, Axim’s clients would send funds to the company to cover employee health insurance premiums and 401(k) retirement contributions. Axim was then responsible for forwarding those funds to the appropriate insurance carriers and retirement accounts. The company earned a monthly fee of $40 per employee for its services…
