Court docs reveal motive behind deadly Lyft driver shooting in Guadalupe

GUADALUPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Court documents released on Thursday show what deputies say was the reason behind a man gunning down his Lyft driver in Guadalupe.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Angel Lopez and his girlfriend had been up for a few days because they had been smoking methamphetamine.

On Monday morning, the girlfriend and Lopez got a Lyft that took them from her grandmother’s home in Guadalupe to a Tempe U-Haul so she could rent a truck to attend her other boyfriend’s court hearing.

When her card got rejected, they got another Lyft, with the driver being 51-year-old John Lucas, to go back to her grandmother’s house, MCSO said…
