Flash Flood Rescues Across Arizona, Two Safe After Being Swept Away in Wittmann, Others Saved in Scottsdale, Mesa, and Phoenix

Heavy rains and flooding triggered multiple water rescue operations across the Valley and in Wittmann, with emergency crews responding to reports of individuals trapped by swiftly rising waters. On Friday, authorities reported that two people, a man and a woman, in Wittmann were engulfed in a flash flood while assessing the conditions near their vehicle. Rescue units from Arizona Fire & Medical Authority, Surprise Fire, and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were dispatched to the scene after a 9-1-1 call from a concerned onlooker.

According to ABC15, search efforts spanned the northbound and southbound sections of the wash, with personnel conducting the search both on foot and with the aid of drones. Following intense search operations, the MCSO informed that the pair had been found safely and emphasized that “The male assisted her and was also swept away by the water.”

The situation began when the woman went to check the height of the water near their car and was caught in the floodwaters, detailed by an MCSO statement. Attempting to rescue her, the man found himself also at the mercy of the currents…
